Lindelof was forced off less than 30 minutes into Sweden's Nations League clash against Slovakia at the weekend. The 30-year-old was out with a toe injury earlier this season and not long after returning to fitness, the centre-back is back on the sidelines – something compatriot Emil Holm said Lindelof was gutted about.

The Bologna player told Swedish publication Göteborgs-Posten: "It’s very sad. He just come back from injury and then to get another injury, you suffer with that. It was tough to see. “He was very down in the dressing room too. He’s an important man in the team, he’s captain anyway. No, it was a shame. I gave him a hug and told him to get well.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Lindelof has made seven appearances for United this season and is a long way from being first-choice at United. Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs De Ligt, and Harry Maguire are ahead of him in the pecking order and when Leny Yoro returns from injury, that will limit Lindelof's game time even more. The Swede is out of contract at Old Trafford in 2025 and it seems he will be moving on next year.

It remains to be seen what the injury is and how long Lindelof will be out for. In the meantime, his United side take on Ipswich Town in Ruben Amorim's first game in charge on Saturday.
