Dembele, who left Barcelona last summer, put in a stellar performance to help fire Paris Saint-Germain to a comeback win in the second leg of their quarter-final tie. He scored one goal and won a penalty as the French giants ran out 4-1 winners, overturning last week's 3-2 defeat in Paris to go through 6-4 on aggregate.

His vital role in the win against his former team left Barca supporters perplexed, as one fan, @BCNOgi, wrote: "It genuinely boggles my mind how Dembele spent all those years missing the easiest of chances but the moment he leaves us his leg turns into a canon. Its like the football gods are f*cking with us on purpose. This cant be real life. Surely not."
"Dembele showing that being fueled by hatred is more power than any form of training or tactics. Game changer this tie," @FuadCadani posted on X.
Some fans were left outraged by Dembele, as @blackssypuxx said: "Dembele never deserved to wear a Barcelona jersey hating on a club who stood beside you at your lowest."
Dembele was spotted laughing on the PSG bench after he was taken off, which rubbed some Catalan faithful the wrong way, as @sark_kobi posted: "Dembele has no shame. Building up the hate."
"Dembele you’ll def pay for your sins," declared @AyittahRosemond.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Dembele's performance came amid constant boos that were aimed at him by the home supporters throughout the game. The France international had a terrible start, but he grew into it and managed to net the equaliser after his team fell behind through Raphinha. Barca, who went down to 10 men in the first half, collapsed in the second half and Dembele was brought down by Joao Cancelo to earn a penalty, which Kylian Mbappe converted to make it 3-1. The departing forward then went on to make it 4-1.
Dembele was taken off late in the game and the jeers from the crowd intensified, but he simply laughed it off and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying his night.
WHAT DEMBELE SAID
Despite the hatred that came his way throughout the game, Dembele spoke highly of the Catalan team after the game. He said: "Barcelona is a great club. I love it! [The whistles] are normal in every football stadium."
