da doce: The battle to finish as top scorer in Germany is set to be intense, with some of the most lethal marksmen on the planet appearing in the tournament
da betway: It's so close we can almost taste it. Euro 2024 is now just days away, with the best players from around the continent descending on Germany for what promises to be a superb summer of football.
While some teams will solely harbour dreams of getting out of the groups, others know that anything other than a trophy parade in mid-July will go down as failure. We're set, then, for four weeks of drama, filled with joy and heartbreak in equal measure.
Here at GOAL, we like to think we know a thing or two about the beautiful game, and so we've asked our team of writers and editors to make their predictions for the tournament. From the dark horses to the biggest disappointments, we've got you covered on what to expect from the this hotly-anticipated Euros.
First up, we asked our team to predict who will win the Golden Boot as the tournament's top scorer – here's what they had to say…
Getty Images'Kane's done it before'
Joe Strange: It’s got to be Harry Kane, hasn’t it? This season’s European Golden Shoe winner, 44 goals in all competitions for Bayern Munich and he’s England’s all-time record scorer. Yes, he wasn’t at his best during the 2022 World Cup, but he’s done it before at major tournaments – he scored four at the last Euros and won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup – and he returns to Germany off the back of his best ever domestic season in front of goal. Plus, he’s got Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham and Co providing the ammunition.

James Westwood: Denmark reached the semi-finals of the last Euros, and could repeat the trick with Manchester United's £75-million man, Rasmus Hojlund, leading the line. Hojlund was hampered by injury in his first year at Old Trafford, but still hit 16 goals, including five in United's dismal Champions League group-stage campaign as he showed off his tournament chops. The 21-year-old also found the net seven times in eight games as Denmark finished top of their qualifying group, and could do some real damage in Germany after returning to full fitness.
Getty Images'Fullkrug's massive German forehead'
Matt O'Connor-Simpson: Picture the scene. It’s the opening game and Germany simply cannot break down Scotland’s stubborn, haggis-fuelled back five. With 15 minutes left, Julian Nagelsmann drags off the ineffectual Kai Havertz in favour of Niclas Fullkrug. Within moments, he’s there at the back post, rising high to nod home a Toni Kroos free-kick, cementing his starting position for the rest of the tournament in the process. He goes on to finish Euro 2024 with six goals, each scored with his massive German forehead. Either that, or Harry Kane.
Getty Images'Kane will be licking his lips'
Stephen Darwin: England have, on paper, a straightforward group, and Harry Kane will be licking his lips at the prospect of building a healthy goal tally in the early stages of Euro 2024. The Three Lions are expected to go deep in the competition, and with Kane on penalties, and not ignoring the fact he'll be playing at stadiums he'll be familiar with following his hugely impressive first season at Bayern Munich, he has every chance of being crowned the Golden Boot winner.
